Title: Science Technician

Hours: 37 hours per week (term time only + 10 days)

Pay: SCP11

Withernsea High School is located in the pleasant, rural seaside town of Withernsea and serves the population of the town and surrounding villages. 

The school is committed to raising standards and in its Ofsted 2016 Inspection, it was found to be a Good school. Ofsted identified many strengths:

• ‘The Headteacher and governors have high expectations of pupils and staff.’
• ‘Around the school, pupils’ conduct is good. They care well for the school environment, which is litter free. The school is a calm and purposeful place.’

We require a School Science Technician to join a friendly hardworking science team. The successful candidate will be required to support teaching staff and pupils with setting up experiments and keeping the laboratories within health and safety guidelines. 

This is an exciting opportunity for somebody with the skills, ability and potential to make a rapid progression to senior level.  We will work with the successful candidate on their training and development with the potential to work towards RSciTech status.
Main Duties include:

• Preparation of materials before lessons, issuing the right equipment to the right lab sessions
• Construction of simple apparatus
• Cleaning away apparatus and chemicals
• Photocopying
• Stocktaking material and chemicals 
• Complying with Health and Safety legislation and other general Science Technician duties.
• In addition candidates will need good communication skills, the ability to work with others as part of a team or on your own initiative and the ability to work responsibly with children.

Exam Invigilator

Type: Casual

Pay: Point 7 (£8.55 per hour)

Closing date: Monday 7th January 2019


We are seeking to appoint, on a casual basis, an Exam Invigilator to help with our busy exam season in May / June 2019.

There may also be further invigilation opportunities throughout the year for both internal and external exams.

Duties will include:  

• Supervising students under exam conditions
• Ensuring rules for candidates and the exam hall are adhered to
• The safe distribution / collection of exam papers
• Handing out stationery and other relevant equipment to candidates

No prior experience is necessary as full training will be provided for the successful applicant.
