Withernsea High School participates in Bookbuzz!

This year, Withernsea High School has once again teamed up with BookTrust to give Year 7 and 8 students the opportunity to choose their own book to keep from a list of 15 titles suitable for 11-13 year olds which have been specially selected by a panel of experts.

Bookbuzz is a reading programme from BookTrust - the UK's largest children's reading charity - which supports schools in encouraging reading for pleasure and independent choice among its students. This, in turn, leads to the development of whole-school reading cultures.

Over the past couple of weeks, members of the school's Reading Committee have led the distribution of approximately 275 books to all Year 7 and 8 students during tutor time.

Head of Library Services, Julie Thompson, commented: 'The Year 7 and 8 students have really been really looking forward to receiving their books and it’s great to see the buzz about books that this has created around school.'
