Reverse Advent Calendar 2019

Following the success of last year’s efforts, staff and students at Withernsea High School are once again collecting non-perishable food items to help some of the region’s most vulnerable people this Christmas.

A reverse advent calendar enables people to give rather than receive and is a concept designed to help those who may need extra support during the season of goodwill. All items will be donated to the Hull Food Bank.

Suggested items for donation include:

* A carton of UHT (Longlife) milk

* Dried foods such as Rice and Pasta

* Coffee / Teabags

* Tinned fish (e.g. tuna)

* Tinned fruit / vegetables

* Long life Christmas foods (e.g Christmas Pudding)

Please note that the food bank is unable to accept fresh foods such as Fruit, Vegetables, Butter and Milk.

All donations should be brought in to school and taken to form rooms by the deadline of Friday 13th December.

Last year, a total of 106kg of food was collected which, in real terms, was enough to help around 20 people put food on their tables for anywhere between three days to a week.

Hull’s foodbank, a registered charity, is part of the Trussell Trust’s UK-wide foodbank network. The trust runs a network of over 420 foodbanks, which work out of more than 1,200 centres across the UK, providing emergency food to people referred for support.
