Bushcraft residential opportunity for Year 8 students

Following on from the overwhelming success of our annual Year 7 Kingswood residential weekend, we are delighted to announce a brand new residential opportunity for 2019.

In the final week of the summer term, all students in Year 8 are being offered a chance to take part in a two night residential Bushcraft experience at Castle Howard in North Yorkshire.

There, they will learn valuable skills including how to conduct themselves safely and responsibly in an outdoor setting; how to think creatively about their surroundings and how to ensure that their presence in the woodland leaves a minimal impact on the environment.

Participants will enjoy a range of activities including outdoor cooking, archery, shelter-building and fire-lighting using ancient and modern methods.

For students who took part in last May’s Year 7 residential, the Bushcraft experience promises to enhance the teamwork and confidence-building skills gained from their last adventure, while teaching them new skills in a practical and fun setting.

For those who missed out on the Kingswood residential, the Bushcraft residential will deliver a unique opportunity to experience time away from home; learn new skills, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun.

Trip organiser and Key Stage 3 Progress Leader Andrea Monaghan commented: ‘I am very excited about the opportunities that this residential trip will offer our students. I expect that both students and staff who take part will have great fun, face new challenges, and surprise themselves with how many new skills they learn. It will be an experience that students will always remember.’

The Bushcraft residential takes place over three days and two nights between Monday 15th and Wednesday 17th July 2019.

Limited places, priced at £170 per student, are still available. A £10 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a place with the remaining balance of £160 to be paid by no later than Monday, 1st July.

Consent letters and further information about the trip are available directly from Mrs Monaghan who can be reached via email at monaghana@wscampus.net
