Sixth Form students enjoy business networking opportunity

On Thursday 22nd November, 14 members of our Sixth Form were given the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs from across the region at a seminar promoting business growth.

The event, held at the Hallmark Hotel in North Ferriby, formed part of James Legal’s ‘Inspiring Business 2018’ campaign – an initiative which aims to support local entrepreneurs as they look to expand and develop their businesses.

The Year 12 and 13 students were invited to attend the event by Nick Miller, founder and Managing Director of James Legal, as part of the school’s ‘Career Ready’ programme – a programme which prepares students for the world of work through interactive workshops and seminars aimed at boosting vital employability skills.

The 'Inspiring Business' seminar offered our students a unique opportunity to meet business people and gain inspiration from their career stories.

Victoria Foster, Careers Leader at Withernsea High School, commented: ‘Our students really enjoyed the event and were interested to hear the career stories of business leaders, which I am sure will be a source of inspiration as they further head towards the world of work.

I hope they can see that a career path is not always straight forward and that all success is due to hard work, dedication, commitment and the will to never stop trying.

Finally, I would like to thank Nick Miller at James Legal for inviting our students and offering them this invaluable opportunity.'

‘Inspiring Business’ is now in its second year, having first launched in 2017 with a campaign that secured two stand-out local companies over £20,000 worth of vital support each to help them grow to the next level.

The 2018 campaign seeks to further build on this by aiming to help and encourage the region’s entrepreneurs.
