Reverse Advent calendar reveals students’ compassion for others
Students at Withernsea High School have been praised for helping to collect over 100kg of food which has been donated to Hull’s main food bank in order to help some of the region’s most vulnerable people this Christmas.
The donations came on the back of a ‘reverse Advent calendar’ which saw each Tutor Group in Years 8 to 11 challenged with bringing in up to 24 items of food by the end of the school term.
Year 7 boys beat Beverley Grammar in East Riding School Football Association Cup quarter final
Last night, Tuesday 18th December, the Year 7 Boys football team travelled to a cold and wet Beverley to compete in the quarter final of the East Riding School Football Association Cup.
Student achievement recognised at Celebration Evening
On Monday 17th December, Withernsea High School hosted its annual Celebration Evening.
The event primarily serves to recognise the hard work of students who are currently working towards their respective GCSE and A-Level qualifications in years 11 and 13.
Language students broaden their horizons with a visit to Hull University
On Thursday 6th December, Year 11 French students visited Hull University where they spent the day learning about the study of languages at a higher level.
Students take part in Badminton Championship
Last Tuesday, 11th December, eight students from across Years 7 and 8 travelled to Beverley’s Longcroft School to take part in the annual East Riding Badminton Championship.
Our students performed extremely well over the course of the evening, competing against players of a high standard who were aged between 11 and 14.
