Ski Trip 2018

During February’s Half Term holiday, 51 students and 8 accompanying staff took part in the school’s annual ski trip to the resort of Folgaria in the Italian Dolomites.

The group left the school site just before midday on Friday 9th February and were waved-off by a large group of friends and family.

Travelling by coach, the touring party made their way down to the south coast ready to catch their ferry to the continent. Passing through France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Austria the group finally reached their destination 31 hours after departure from Withernsea. On-board karaoke contests helped the time pass quickly, as did plenty of naps along the way!

The long journey was worth it as the group were greeted with perfect ski conditions upon their arrival at the resort.

Throughout their week-long stay, students took part in five hours of ski lessons per day alongside a range of other activities including: snow-tubing, tobogganing, ice skating, bowling and snow-shoeing. In the evenings, those who were not tired out from the day’s activities had the opportunity to show off their moves on the dance floor during the resort’s night-time discos.

Mr Beattie, Trip Leader, commented: ‘The students excelled themselves, as they do every year. I was particularly impressed with how the students looked out for one another on the trip. The ski school and hotel staff both commented on the exemplary behaviour and excellent manners of our group.

I, along with the rest of the staff on the trip, could not be any prouder with the way the students conducted themselves. They were a credit to themselves and the school.‘

Feedback from the students about the trip was equally as positive:
