Free books cause a buzz with Year 7

Every student in Year 7 will this week receive a free book thanks to Book Trust - the UK's largest reading charity.

Through their Bookbuzz programme, the charity encourages reading for pleasure through independent choice to further develop a whole school reading culture in participating schools.

Our students have had the opportunity to choose their own book to keep from a list of 17 titles suitable for 11-13 year olds and selected by a panel of experts.

Julie Thompson, Head of Library Services, commented: "The Year 7 students have been really looking forward to receiving their books and it’s great to see the buzz about books that this has created around school."

The books are due to be distributed by members of our Reading Committee during the week commencing 17th October.
