Successful careers fair promotes opportunities for students

As part of National Careers and Apprenticeship Week, Withernsea High School held a successful Careers Fair on the afternoon of Monday, 6th March.

The fair offered visitors an excellent opportunity to meet representatives from over 20 companies and training providers who were on-hand to deliver information regarding job and training opportunities in the local area.

Among the many organisations who attended the event were representatives from the Armed Forces, Centrica, SALT Architects, Cranswick Country Foods and Hudgell Solicitors.

Andrea Beer, General Marketing Manager from Hudgell’s, commented: ‘It was an absolute pleasure talking with enthusiastic students at the school about what a career as a solicitor entails. With so many opportunities and new roles in the job market, looking at what’s available must be daunting for some young people, which is why events like this are invaluable.’

Anthony Bulmer, an Apprentice Intake Executive from 3aaa Apprenticeships, added: ‘The fair was very good and it was great meeting young individuals who, with our advice and guidance, can go on to build great careers.’

Key Stage 4 and 5 students were given the opportunity to visit the fair throughout the afternoon before the doors were opened to parents and the wider public after school.

Event organiser and Assistant Headteacher Rebecca Pindar commented: ‘It was fantastic to see so many local companies and training providers supporting our students in National Careers Week. Careers information, advice and guidance is vitally important for students as they look to embark on career paths which will see them join a dynamic and rapidly evolving professional landscape. My thanks go to all the organisations and representatives who gave their time to participate and to all the parents and students who supported the event.’
