A-Level results open up fantastic opportunities for hard-working students of Withernsea High School

On Thursday 15th August, Year 13 students were joined by staff and parents at Withernsea High School to collect their A-level results.

For many students, their results were confirmation of the strong commitment to learning shown over the last two years – a commitment that has already led some into apprenticeships, further training and onto degree courses. For those with conditional offers from university the long wait was over, the tension was released, and they were able to celebrate securing places.

The annual Year 11 Prom is a firm favourite in the schools’ events calendar and provides a final opportunity for the year group to socialise en-masse before going their separate ways in to further education, training or employment.

It has become tradition that many of the students gather at the school to pose for photos with friends and family before making their way to the venue. This year was no exception and there was a fantastic turnout of well-wishers who accompanied the students as they met a range of hired limousines which transported them to the party.

The Country Park Inn on Hessle Foreshore was once again the venue of choice for the event, with the stunning backdrop of the Humber Bridge and sweeping estuary providing an excellent photogenic setting for the occasion.

Food at the event came in the form of a barbecue buffet which was followed by a dessert of profiteroles. Live music was provided by fantastic local band Bonemuel, whose appearance was generously sponsored by the Fincham family from Golden Sands Holiday Park. The night ended with a packed dancefloor as the resident DJ kept the party going until 11.30.

The night was a resounding success thanks to the hard work of lead organiser Zoie Wiseman, assisted by Tim Nuttall.  Mr Nuttall commented: 'On behalf of the school and the Year 11 students, I would like to thank Miss Wiseman for the many hours of hard work she put in behind the scenes to make the event the success it was. I know all the students thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the evening and it was the perfect way for them to celebrate the end of their compulsory time at Withernsea High School.'
