Withernsea High School students celebrate another year of strong Sixth Form results

Withernsea High School Sixth Form students returned to school today to collect their results and were joined by several members of staff as they celebrated another year of very good results.

The pass rate of 95% across A-Level and Level 3 BTEC subjects is roughly in line with last year, which is reassuring given the massive change in the examination system.  41% of results were graded at A*-B or equivalent.

Headteacher Richard Williman commented: ‘I am delighted with the success of our students and the continued excellent pass rate across all subjects.

'It is particularly pleasing to see so many of our students securing the grades they need to move onto University, apprenticeships or employment. This, along with the strong performance across the full range of A-Level and Level 3 BTEC courses, demonstrates the strength of Sixth Form provision at the school.

'These very good results are a testament to the hard work that students and staff have undertaken and the support given by parents and carers.

Congratulations to our students on their individual success, and I hope very much that they will keep us updated on their progress as they move on to the next stage in their lives’.

Director of Sixth Form Keith Bedson added: ‘These are an amazing set of results that reflect the hard work put in by students and their teachers. All of the Year 13 students deserve a great deal of praise for their achievements.

'Some especially impressive results came from Jadie Acklam (A, A, B), Maisie Baker (A, A, A), Olivia Kemp (A, B, B), and Jodie Stephenson (A, A, A).

'Strong performers in the Vocational subjects include Luke Brown, Joe Feeney and Cade Joynson, who were among a number of students who achieved 3 Distinction stars in a variety of subjects.

We have students going off to study a full range of subjects at many different universities. Some of these have chosen to stay locally at Hull University, Leeds, Lincoln, Newcastle and York, with others deciding to study further afield.

'It has been a pleasure to work with such a dedicated set of students and their very supportive parents. We wish them all well for their future’.
