During February Half term, 53 students and 7 WHS staff members enjoyed a week of skiing in the Italian Dolomites.
Travelling by coach, the group left Withernsea at 14.30 on Friday 17th February to make their way down to the south coast where they caught the ferry from Dover to Calais.
After a scenic journey through France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria the group finally arrived at their hotel in the ski resort of Folgaria at 20.30 the following day.
Throughout their week long stay, students enjoyed five hours of skiing every day and spent their evenings taking part in various winter activities such as snow tubing, ice skating and tobogganing. They ended the week with a disco alongside students from other travelling schools across the UK.
Sport teacher and trip organiser Jon Beattie commented: ‘I could not have been happier with the student’s behaviour, attitude and effort throughout the week. At times the trip can be tiresome, tough and extremely challenging both physically and mentally. Many people stopped staff whilst on the trip to comment on the exemplary behaviour and politeness of our students.
Since we have returned from Italy we have also received numerous complements from the hotel staff, bus drivers and travel company representatives who have all said Withernsea High are one of the best groups they have taken.
A big well done and thank you to all students and staff for making it such a fantastic and memorable week'
