Next year's dance show hopes to bring something completely new to Withernsea High School with a performance of the dance theatre production 'Into the Hoods' - an award-winning show which became the first ever Hip Hop dance show to open in the West End.

Last weekend, in preparation for the event, Teacher of Dance Jamie Hardy led a trip to Sadler's Wells Theatre with the Year 12 dance students. Not only did they get to watch the Zoonation Dance Company perform the piece live, but the group were also invited backstage to meet the hugely talented cast.

Miss Hardy commented: "Providing opportunities such as this outside the classroom is integral in allowing young people to aim for high aspirations. The cast were incredibly humble and welcoming after the show and perfectly illustrated to our students what hard work and dedication can achieve."

Year 12 dance student Chloe Rignall said: "I loved the show and it made me even more excited to perform it next year. My personal highlight was meeting the cast and how lovely they all were. I just can't wait to perform it and be a part of it next year."

Fellow student Maria Willingham added: "It was ace! The show was amazing to watch and when we got to meet the cast you could feel the intensity from them which made me so much more excited for next year as we aim to recreate the performance. It will definitely make me work harder for next year's show, especially with it being our last show here at school."

The Year 12 dance students are: Lillie Atkin, Chelsea Leigh, Chloe Rignall, Courtney Uscroft and Maria Willingham
