Rugby success for Year 10 student

Year 10 student Matthew Sowden was recently selected to attend county rugby league trials. We are delighted to report that he was successful in these trials and was subsequently asked to play for the county squad.

James Mobbs, a Rugby League Community Coach at Hull Kingston Rovers, commented: 'We enjoyed having Matthew in the group as he was always willing to learn and progress in the game. We tried him in numerous positions which he adapted to very well, despite being out of his comfort zone in a few aspects.

I would also like to add that Matthew is a credit to Withernsea High School. He was always on time, he always arrived with the right kit, he listened and took on board everything that was asked of him. He represented Withernsea well and was one of the top players on the East Riding Team.'

Congratulations to Matthew from all at Withernsea High School!
