Withernsea Festivals Logo Competition

Two students of Withernsea High School have been congratulated after their design of a logo for a local festival was awarded second place in a competition to find a suitable image to help market the event.

Year 8 students Shannon Wilks and Emily Fincham worked together to design their entry which incorporates images of music and motorbikes to reflect the theme of the event.

Guy Moxon, chairman of the Withernsea Festivals committee, visited the school yesterday (25/04/16) to personally congratulate the girls on their efforts. Both girls received a certificate and a mug with their logo design printed on the side – prizes which were awarded thanks to the sponsorship of Spicer Furniture.

Mr Moxon commented: “I would like to thank the students for their excellent efforts and input. There was a high artistic level across the whole competition and they should be proud of their achievement."

Organisers of Withernsea Festivals – the new name for the annual Summertime Special and Bike Fest – launched the competition earlier this year for budding artists to help design a logo for their event.

The competition was open to all ages and abilities and attracted around 20 entries from across the region. First place went to Kelsey Fields from Hull whose winning design will be featured on all the promotional materials for the event.

Withernsea Festivals takes place on the weekend of 5th, 6th and 7th August in Valley Gardens. For more information please visit their website: www.withernseafestivals.co.uk/
