Students win the top prize at TeenTech

Last Thursday, as part of our STEM week, a group of ten Year 8 students (accompanied by Miss Davis) visited the KC Stadium to take part in TeenTech - a highly interactive event designed to inspire teenagers about the contemporary world of Science, Engineering and Technology.

Another brick in the wall...

A group of students from Withernsea High School today swapped the comfort of their classrooms for the sights and sounds of a fully operational building site as they helped build part of their new school.

Year 9 students Alex Ogilvie, Danika Mason and Jasmine Rawson, along with Daniel Welch in Year 8, won the chance to build a small part of the £13m rebuild of their school after winning first place in an earlier bricklaying challenge – a task which saw them competing against two other teams of their peers to build a small cavity wall to a basic specification.

STEM week

Last week, students from across all year groups enjoyed a rich programme of activities and opportunities relating to STEM subjects and their associated careers as part of a focussed week on the continuing promotion of these areas in our school.  

The aim of the week was to further educate students on the STEM subjects, namely: Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, whilst also highlighting the opportunities that are available within a wide range of careers for young people who possess STEM skills.

Just a quick note to say a massive 'Thank You' to everyone who attended the High School Open Day on Saturday. We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who came back to take a final look around - we estimate between 2500 - 3000 people visited us throughout the course of the day, which is amazing!
